Clea DuVall, 48, known for directing "Happiest Season," will helm the project and has written the screenplay. The original film, starring Shelley Long, has garnered a devoted following over decades, despite its initial lukewarm reception, now widely recognized as a cult classic. This project adds to a significant period for Diaz, who has multiple other films and a return as Princess Fiona in "Shrek 5" in the works. No plot details for the sequel have been released yet.
