SCO to Fix Billing System With Major Upgrade

The Special Communications Organisation (SCO) has proposed a major Rs. 1.888 billion upgrade to its outdated billing system for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Planned for 2025–2028, this project aims to replace an old, slow system currently causing delays, impacting revenue, and struggling to support over 2.2 million subscribers. The new "Convergent Billing System" will unify billing for mobile, landline, and internet services onto a single platform, capable of supporting up to 4 million users with faster and more accurate processing. Officials anticipate the upgrade will significantly improve customer service, facilitate better management decisions, and boost telecom infrastructure in the regions. Currently, the project is in the planning stage, with SCO preparing documentation for Ministry of IT approval.
