Captain (Retd) Muhammad Waseem takes charge as Punjab DG Food and Cane Commissioner

Captain (Retd) Muhammad Waseem has been appointed as the new Director General Food and Cane Commissioner for Punjab, replacing Amjad Hafeez. Waseem, a BS-19 officer, previously served as Director General Wildlife and Parks and brings extensive experience in district governance and commodity price enforcement to his new role. Notably, during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner Sargodha, he enforced sugar prices in July 2025 and mediated an agreement between kinnow growers and factory owners in January 2026 to fix a rate of Rs1,600 per maund. His career also includes postings as Deputy Commissioner Bahawalnagar and Deputy Commissioner Sargodha, with additional charge of Khushab district. This appointment highlights a significant leadership change in Punjab's food and cane administration, with Waseem's background suggesting a continued focus on price control and agricultural dispute resolution.
