Sonu Nigam's apology to Karnataka fans, why are you apologizing again and again?

Renowned Indian playback singer Sonu Nigam has issued another apology to his fans in Karnataka ahead of his concert in Bengaluru on October 24, following renewed protests over a controversial statement he made in April 2025. Nigam's apology, partially delivered in Kannada via a video message, expressed his willingness to apologize repeatedly to maintain his relationship with his fans, emphasizing that he deeply values their love and support over the past 30 years. The controversy stems from an incident in April 2025 at Bengaluru's East Point College, where Nigam, in response to a request to sing in Kannada, controversially linked the demanding tone to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, stating, “This is why the Pahalgam attack happened.” This remark ignited severe backlash, with the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), a pro-Kannada language rights organization, accusing him of insulting Kannada-speaking people and subsequently demanding that Bengaluru police deny permission for his upcoming concert, threatening state-wide protests if it proceeds. Nigam’s latest apology aims to reassure fans that he did not intend to hurt anyone's feelings, reiterating his gratitude for the affection he has received from Karnataka. It remains unclear whether this apology will mitigate the protests or if opposition to the concert will persist.
