Quetta Chamber Advises Traders to Suspend New Iran Import Bookings

The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Balochistan has advised traders to temporarily suspend new purchases and cargo bookings for imports from Iran. This advisory comes after the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan, withdrew an order extending the Electronic Import Form (EIF) Waiver on October 16, 2026, which had been previously extended on October 3, 2026. The move aims to protect traders from potential financial losses and complications in customs clearance due to uncertainty regarding the EIF waiver's legal status. The chamber urged traders to verify regulatory requirements with relevant authorities like the Ministry of Commerce and the Federal Board of Revenue before proceeding with new import arrangements, emphasizing that continuing transactions without clarity could expose businesses to significant risks. Until official clarification is issued, the temporary halt is a precautionary measure to safeguard the financial interests of the business community involved in Pakistan-Iran trade.
