Masooma Malik among 3 Stage actors slapped with Notices over ‘Vulgar’ Dance Performances

The Punjab Council of the Arts in Lahore has issued notices to three stage actresses, Urooj Khan, Nayab Khan, and Masooma Malik, for "objectionable" and "vulgar" dance performances in local theatre halls. The actresses have been given two days to submit their explanations to the Council's office in Shadman, Lahore. This action reflects a tightening of scrutiny by authorities over performances, with the Council making it clear that inappropriate content will not be tolerated. Mughis Bin Aziz, Director of Operations for the Punjab Council of the Arts, emphasized that such performances are unacceptable and warned of strict action against artists for irresponsible conduct. Failure to respond within the given timeframe could lead to further punitive measures by the relevant authorities, highlighting a significant crackdown on perceived indecency in public stage performances.
