Zero Tolerance for Cyber Fraud and Character Assassination: NCCIA Quetta Chief

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Quetta is implementing a zero-tolerance policy against cyber financial fraud, blackmail, and character assassination, as announced by Additional Director Khalid Baqi. During an awareness session at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta Balochistan (CCIQ), Baqi disclosed that most organized cybercrime gangs operating via mobile calls, Facebook, and WhatsApp originate from South Punjab and Kacha areas, with no suspects from Balochistan identified in their 158 registered cases. The local business community, represented by CCIQ President Ahmad Gul Kakar and other officials, expressed significant concern over millions of rupees lost to online banking, EasyPaisa, and JazzCash scams, along with reputational damage from fake news and baseless accusations. To address this rising threat, chamber officials proposed a joint task force involving CCIQ, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and NCCIA to enhance complaint handling and accelerate investigations, a proposal Baqi accepted while also urging citizens to protect personal data and sensitive verification codes like OTPs.
