Traffic Woes Grow in Chitral Amid Rising Number of Rickshaws

Chitral city is experiencing severe traffic congestion and pedestrian difficulties due to an unregulated increase in the number of rickshaws, despite a Section 144 ban imposed by the district administration after initially allowing 145 rickshaws. Residents are concerned about rising road accidents, unregulated movement on market roads, and the operation of rickshaws by unlicensed, underage, or untrained drivers, exacerbated by violations of speed limits. Citizens and public representatives are urging the district administration and traffic police to establish a designated rickshaw stand outside the city, allow only a limited number of rickshaws in rotation, and strictly regulate their routes, numbers, and driver documentation to improve traffic management and reduce accident risks.
