Voting for elections to reserved seats of Azad Kashmir Assembly

Polling is currently underway for the election of new members to fill 8 vacant reserved seats in the Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The voting process began at 10 AM and will continue uninterrupted until 2 PM, with the Election Commission Secretary acting as the presiding officer. These seats include 5 for women, one for a technocrat, one for religious scholars, and one for overseas Kashmiris. After the election, the newly elected members will take an oath, followed by the final stage of elections for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker posts. This election is significant as the current government was formed with a deficit of seven members due to unheld elections in the Poonch and Sudhanoti constituencies.
