Kalash Community Celebrates Uchal Festival
The traditional Kalash Uchal Festival concluded in the Kalash valleys of Chitral, Pakistan, drawing numerous domestic and international tourists. This annual festival is a thanksgiving occasion for the successful harvesting and threshing of wheat and barley crops, featuring traditional dances, folk songs, and ancient rituals. The celebrations highlighted the unique cultural heritage and seasonal traditions of the Kalash people, including their summer migration with goats to high-altitude pastures for dairy production. Security arrangements were comprehensively implemented under the directives of Lower Chitral DPO Resham Jahangir, with police deployed at key locations and special traffic duties to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the festivities. The final ceremonies in Bamburet marked the conclusion of the Uchal celebrations, showcasing the ancient culture and religious practices of the Kalash community.
