Officials had received intelligence suggesting betel nuts were being smuggled under the guise of coal, leading them to unload the truck, but the information proved incorrect. ETO Excise Nematullah Kakar confirmed the compensation was paid for the damages and time lost, and stated action would be taken against the informant. The Divisional President of the Transport Union, Abdul Jabbar Kakar, appreciated the compensation but urged the department to avoid acting on unverified information, citing existing difficulties for transporters due to security issues and alleged harassment at checkpoints.
