Compromise on blocked identity cards of Afghan and Hazara refugees in Balochistan is unacceptable, says National Party

The National Party of Balochistan has welcomed the blocking of identity cards (ID cards) issued to Afghan and Hazara refugees who arrived in Pakistan after 1979. The party states that millions of these refugees, including Afghans, Hazaras, and Uzbeks, were issued fraudulent manual ID cards following an influx in 1979. With NADRA's computerization, these illicit cards were identified and subsequently blocked by NADRA and the interior ministry. The National Party condemns ongoing political pressure to unblock these cards and demands that the Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, and NADRA cancel all such ID cards, emphasizing that no political pressure should be accepted on this matter. This issue is significant as it addresses concerns about national identity and the integrity of official documentation amidst a refugee crisis.
