Heavy Rains Forecast Across Lahore and Punjab Over Weekend

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for widespread monsoon rains across Lahore and Punjab from August 21 to August 23, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Heavy rainfall is specifically forecast for Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and other areas, with potential urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Narowal, and landslides in mountainous regions like Murree. PDMA Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa has alerted district administrations and relevant departments on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, urging them to take precautionary measures. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions, avoid dilapidated buildings, stay indoors during storms, seek shelter from lightning, and keep children away from stagnant water and electric hazards to ensure safety during the severe weather.
