Mountaineer Asma Mushtaq dies after falling ill on her return after scaling Spantak Peak

Pakistani mountaineer Asma Mushtaq, 36, tragically passed away due to severe mountain sickness during her descent after successfully summiting Spantik Peak, which stands at 7,027 meters. Mushtaq, whose permit number was PAK-06, was part of an expedition organized by Karakoram Calling Treks and was accompanied by mountain guide Akbar Ali and expedition guide Muhammad Amin. Despite extreme weather conditions and diligent efforts by Akbar Ali to save her, Asma succumbed to the illness at an altitude of approximately 6,400 meters. Karakoram Calling Treks has expressed condolences to her family and is coordinating with authorities to provide assistance, while also commending the bravery of their guides.
