Punjab to introduce activity-based textbooks for primary schools’ students in 2027

The Punjab government is set to introduce an activity-based learning system for primary school students, with new textbooks for classes up to Grade 5 to be implemented from the 2027 academic session. Officials from the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PECTA) confirmed that work on these redesigned textbooks, aligning with a revised curriculum, is already in progress. This initiative marks Punjab's first dedicated activity-based textbook system for this age group, aiming to shift students away from rote learning and foster creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills through direct involvement in educational exercises and real-world connections. The goal is to make primary education more engaging, interactive, and to strengthen students' ability to understand and apply knowledge rather than merely memorizing information.
