Section 144 comes into force across Punjab from 1st to 10th Muharram

The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the region from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram to ensure law and order, promote religious harmony, and protect lives and property during the sacred month. The restrictions, issued by the Punjab Home Department, include prohibitions on new practices in processions, display of weapons, provocative slogans, and gathering on rooftops along procession routes. A ban on motorcycle pillion riding will be enforced on the 9th and 10th Muharram, with exceptions for women, senior citizens, and law enforcement. These measures aim to prevent incidents and maintain peace during Muharram processions and gatherings.
