Punjab approves driving licences for 16-year-olds for motorcycles

The Punjab government has approved a new policy allowing 16-year-olds to obtain driving licenses for motorcycles. Following cabinet approval, the Home Department has forwarded recommendations to the Law Department for official notification, which is expected on Monday. This license will specifically permit 16-year-olds to drive motorcycles with a single passenger, but they are restricted from operating rickshaws or any other commercial vehicles. Applicants must still fulfill all standard legal and testing requirements to acquire the license. This initiative aims to regulate and formalize motorcycle driving for this age group in Punjab.
