Academic Staff Association to set up protest camps outside Balochistan University against non-payment of arrears of retired teachers and employees

The Academic Staff Association of Balochistan University held a cabinet meeting, presided over by Professor Dr. Kaleemullah Bareach, to address the severe financial crisis faced by the university. Key concerns discussed included the non-payment of dues to retired teachers and employees, cuts in teacher benefits, and other administrative issues. It was highlighted that many teachers and employees retired since 2022 have not received their gratuity, pension contributions, GP fund, and other increased dues, leading to significant financial hardship. To protest these issues, the Association decided to set up a protest camp on June 4th outside the main gate of Balochistan University. The cabinet also demanded an end to cuts in approved allowances, implementation of teachers' approved upgradation, and filling of long-vacant positions. They urged the provincial government to announce a special financial package for the university, increasing annual grants by at least 15 billion rupees to ensure a sustainable solution for financial problems and outstanding dues.
