Rs 916 billion spent on development projects last fiscal year

During the last fiscal year, the Pakistani federal government spent 916 billion Pakistani Rupees on development projects, falling short of its 1000 billion rupee target by 84 billion rupees. According to the Ministry of Planning, 33 federal ministries and divisions utilized 611 billion rupees for development funds, while 59.43 billion rupees were allocated to parliamentarians' schemes. Provinces and special areas received 192.55 billion rupees for projects, with 137.49 billion rupees specifically for water projects and corporations, including the Power Division, spending 304.91 billion rupees. Significant expenditures included 182 billion for NHA, 122.55 billion for NTDC and PEPCO, 34.89 billion for higher education, 27 billion for federal education, and 13 billion for national health projects. Notably, the Ministry of Religious Affairs did not utilize any development funds in the past fiscal year, highlighting varied departmental engagement in development spending.
