PPP set to form G-B govt as Bilawal hails PM's support

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is set to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, leader of the PML-N, pledged his party's support for the PPP. PM Sharif confirmed that PML-N members would vote for the PPP despite sitting in opposition, and a consensus agreement allocates the governor and deputy speaker positions in G-B to the PML-N. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed this move as a positive step, acknowledging the PPP's majority with 11 out of 24 seats in the G-B Legislative Assembly and vowing to serve the region's people by safeguarding their rights. This development follows a breakthrough in discussions between delegations from both parties regarding power-sharing arrangements and broader political cooperation after the June 7 elections.
